The best way to find mold, of course, is to hire an expert to examine and test your home. However, you can also give mold the "nose test" as an initial screening. Prepare your home for this test.
When you return (with someone with a sensitive nose if you do not have one), give it the sniff test. If you small mustiness, you have mold. After four or five minutes, your nose becomes desensitized. You may need to go outside for a 10-minute break for a "fresh" nose. Except for very small amounts of mold, we recommend a home and site mold inspection and bringing in a professional to clean it up. Mold is a serious indoor air quality problem. So serious that after any large mold clean up, especially one by an amateur, we also recommend a second test by an independent mold inspector. green builder, or green remodeler in North Central Texas or the Dallas-Fort Worth area?
