It is impossible to eliminate all mold and mold spores in the indoor environment, There are many types of mold, but none of them will grow without water or moisture. The way to control indoor mold growth, then, is to control moisture. Start by reducing indoor humidity to 30% to 60%. Do this by:
Properly vent all home heating and water heating appliances. Vent bathrooms and dryers to the outside. Use your vents in bathrooms or other areas, such as the kitchen, where there is regular moisture. Put your bathroom vent on a timer, turn the vent on when you enter the bathroom, and set the timer to keep the vent operating for at least 20 minutes after you leave the bathroom. Gutters A gutter system that is properly installed will help prevent standing water from accumulating around the foundation. Water Drainage Make sure
water drains away from the house at least several feet during
rainstorms. Condensation Reduce the potential for condensation on cold surfaces (i.e., windows, piping, exterior walls, roof, or floors) by adding insulation. green builder, or green remodeler in North Central Texas or the Dallas-Fort Worth area?
