Buying a home to retrofit green and energy-efficient is not the same as buying a "fixer-upper." In fact, a home can be beautifully appointed and up-to-date, but never be able to be made energy-efficient without dumping a whole boatload of money there. At best, buying a home is confusing and emotional, and let's face it, just plain scary for most of us. Add the fact that you want to have the most green, most energy efficient home possible both for your pocketbook and for the planet, and you have a difficult project ahead of you.
