Buying a home to retrofit green and energy-efficient is not the same as buying a "fixer-upper." In fact, a home can be beautifully appointed and up-to-date, but never be able to be made energy-efficient without dumping a whole boatload of money there. 

At best, buying a home is confusing and emotional, and let's face it, just plain scary for most of us.
