There are tests/Inspections that are needed prior to buying a home you want to remodel to be green. 

  • Effectively 

  • With the Least Expense.

Once you have decided on a home, it is a smart financial move to have these tests performed before you buy it.

  • Blower Door/Door Rater
  • Duct Blaster
  • Infrared
  • Visual Energy Audit
  • Air Quality: Tests for items that affect Indoor air quality, such as lead and asbestos are important if you are buying an older home. Toxic chemicals and mold apply to any age home.

The normal home inspection that real estate agents recommend and for which the State of Texas requires a license should take care of foundation, structural, roof, and termite inspections. If it does not, consider having these inspections, too.

Buying the proper house will not only make remodeling green and energy efficient cheaper, it will also save remodeling time. Time is still money.
