Depression symptoms: Seek professional help for your symptoms because depression rarely "cures" itself and symptoms such as fatigue, eating or concentration problems, and weight loss are also expressions of many diseases. |

and Aging:
|
Changes in mood, appetite, sleep patterns, activity levels, ability to think clearly and rapidly, or ability to experience pleasure may signal depression.
|
In depression, you probably experience one or more of the following
symptoms. In addition, the symptoms normally last for a prolonged period of time. 1. Mood change: Gloomy, sad, unhappy, despairing, or hopeless feelings. 2. Change in appetite: Loss of interest in food or effortless weight loss is more common than overeating. 3. Sleep change: Although most do people sleep less with age, regular problems with falling asleep or wakening early without being able to go back to sleep, could signal depression. 4. Changes in activity levels or speed of thinking: You could feel you are operating in slow motion or constantly feel jittery or agitated. You might experience trouble in making a decision or thinking clearly or quickly. 5. Inability to experience pleasure: You might feel tired, listless, lethargic, or apathetic. You might have frequent thoughts of doom, foreboding, or dread. You might even feel that you have lost interest in everything or almost everything. |
