Advice: grandparents seek advice about their problems with their grandkids. Many want knowledge of grandparents' rights. |
I am searching for the grandparent laws and rights for the state
of Virginia where my only grandchild lives. If you can send any information where I might
find these laws and rights, I would appreciate it very much. Thank you for your wonderful
website, and thank you in advance for your help .
MS Each state has its own laws. For example, according to an attorney my family consulted, the state of Texas, where I live, has virtually no laws. This link came from a law newsletter I take. http://www.lawresearch.com/v10/csvirg.htm Webmaster What can you tell us about grandparents' rights in New Jersey?
Where can we find laws and legal opinions on the internet about this issue? MV We live in Louisiana and my son and ex-wife have been divorced for about 1 1/2 years. We have been a part of our grandchild's life from the beginning. Our son and his wife lived with us before the birth and until the baby was about 6 months old. We have been part of his life for the last 4 1/2 years now my ex- daughter in-law has decided that we can no longer see him. He has spent nearly every other weekend at our house. He has been on vacation with us for a week at a time. And when she has gone out of town in the past he has spent time with us. His father lives out of state and does not get to see him and is behind in child support and due to this she has told us that she will get to our son by not letting me see our grandson. We think this is
unfair to us and especially to the child who has been part of our lives since the
beginning. TA Tennessee or Georgia Rights? I'm not sure if this website can even help but I'll give it a try. My son who is 21 got a girl pregnant; she's 18. They are both living in Georgia. Her parents have decided that they want to adopt the baby when he or she is born. I just found out today so I'm not sure of how my son feels about this at this time. Anyway I'd like information on my and my husbands rights as the grandparents of our unborn grandchild. If you can help us we would greatly appreciate it . We reside in Tennessee. thank you for your time. C and J More Rights! Do you have any information on legal rights of grandparents? Nan Phillips By the way, I have custody of my grandchildren and have been raising them alone for the past 6 1/2 years. I wonder if you have any data or information on that subject. Seems to me that it is increasing nationwide. NM |

My Parent's Rights as Grandparents. I'm not really sure if I am in the right place here. But I'm gonna give it a shot and try my best. My parents are in a place where my sister-in-law has divorced my brother and will not let them see the two-year-old grandson. They have never had bad blood between them; she would just rather him be close to her family, not his fathers' family. They are so sad about all this. I can't even begin to describe the hurt. If there is any information on whether they have rights or not, could you please help direct us in the the right direction?0 Thank you. Hello; I run the Association To Reunite Grandparents & Families, a support group for grandparents who are denied access as well as those now raising grandchildren. I have never met my first grandchild, Kayla -6, and recently won full custody of my second grandchild (same son, different breeder). Asheleigh is 5 and has been with me 10 to 15 days/month since birth and full time since March 96. She was badly neglected by addict parents, and molested by the mother's father! BC WHAT ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO DO WHEN THE COURT SAYS THAT YOU CAN SEE THE KIDS
ANY TIME THEY WANT TO BUT THEY THREATEN THE CHILDREN IF THEY SAY THEY WANT TO SEE US SO

HE IS IN JAIL FOR A PAROLE VIOLATION BUT THEY BOTH ARE MEAN TO THE LB WE HAVE BEEN TO COURT FOR GRANDPARENTS RIGHTS AND WE LOST THE FIRST CASE AND WE APPEALED IT AND WE JUST AS SAME AS LOST IT TOO. THE JUDGE SAID IT WAS UP TO THE CHILDREN BUT THEY ARE AFRAID TO SAY THAT THEY WANT TO SEE US. SO WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO? THANK YOU FOR LISTENING. L.B. |
