About Breast Feeding from Readers.
I am breast feeding my 1 month old. What information do you have
on
phenylalanine being in my diet and the effect this has on the breast fed baby?
(in other words, is it good, bad or indifferent for me to drink and eat diet
foods that contain nutra-sweet?)
Thank you.

Answer
My doctor told me that anything I ate
would come through in my breast milk,
including alcohol, antibiotics, etc. So I would think nutra-sweet would, too.
My doctor also told me not to give my child any artificial sweeteners. So, I
would guess you should stop while you are nursing. But I'm not sure, so
maybe you could quit until you can ask your doctor.

I am still breast feeding my 18 month old? Is this O.K. And, is
there an age where it is recommended that you wean?
Thanks

Answer
My doctor told me that nature meant for babies to be
fed breast milk for two years and then never to have milk (especially cow's milk) again.
But I know more than one person who has breastfed her child for longer than that. If you
breast feed your baby for six more months, you can keep him/her from needing cow's milk
which my doctor says is full of pesticides, antibiotics, and often hormones. He suggests
fortified soya or oat milk for children. Anyway, you are doing your baby a great favor so
it is more than OK! It is great!

My baby just turned a year old January 5th. All of the sudden everyone expects
her to be weaned now. Well its not going to be that easy. And I'm not sure I'm really
ready yet. I know Kaitlyn (my baby ) isn't. She is the perfect size for her age, and the
picture of health. I was so happy that I could nurse her. She was very small when she was
born, 5lb 9oz. I didn't think I would be able to nurse her. And when I was able to I
decided to go for 6 months. Then seeing how good it was for her, I went for the year. Like
I said, she is a good size she weighs 19lbs 2oz. She is a very happy baby, and very calm
too. My son is now 13 years old, I was not able to nurse him. And he had lots of ear
infections etc.. And he was always very over active. He is very smart, but he does have
A.D.D. I really don't know if things would have been different if I had nursed him, its
hard to tell. Cause you really can't compare two different children. But I believe it has
made a difference for my daughter. But now I need to know what is a socially acceptable
age to stop nursing?
I asked the Dr. and the Doctor, says when me and the baby are ready. She did however,
advise me not to put her on a bottle now.
I have tried to give her milk in a cup, and she wants no part of it at all.
What should I do? I don't want to be a social out cast.
Thank You

Answer
I breast fed my baby for two years plus two months.
Although weaning her was not easy, I'm not sure it would have been easier earlier. Anyway,
I feel I did us both a favor to nurse her so long. Don't let people keep you from doing
what you want to with and for your baby. Breast feeding does wonders for the baby--and for
mom!

Answer
I think you are doing a wonderful thing to keep
breastfeeding your baby. If you want a cup, though, try one of those cups they have to
suck on. They are truly non-spillable and the babies have to suck the liquid out.
Don't let anyone make you feel like a social outcast. You are doing what nature intended.
They are the ignorant ones!

The best thing about this book is that is thorough. It takes new moms and soon-to-be moms from A to Z in breast feeding. The second best thing about this book is that it is well-illustrated. Review Breastfeeding Pure & Simple |
