Pick Me Up introduces baby sign language to hearing infants and toddlers through music. It's a wonderful CD for your car.
Review by Mary Moore Pick Me Up! Fun Songs for Learning Signs by Sign2Me |
Baby Sign Language is introduced through music to hearing children. |
|
Music as a Teacher: The movement of music is used to introduce American Sign Language to infants and young children in an entertaining manner. Twenty original songs teach ASL (American Sign Language) words to your child with all the additional learning benefits and fun music has to offer. These songs cover multiple musical styles such as raggae, soul, rock, country, and jazz. The patterns in the lyrics are repetitious for children to enjoy but not so obnoxious that adults can not listen to the CD repeatedly. |
|
| Activity Guide: Each of the songs has a corresponding activity.
The book provides the lyrics and examples of the signs used in the songs.
It also includes signing advice from an educator/pioneer in the field of
American Sign Language, Dr. Joseph Garcia who authored the infants and
toddler's classic in the sign language field: Sign with Your Baby.
More Extras: Place the CD in your computer (Windows PC or Mac) and see a video of one of the songs being signed as well as getting tips for working with your child and sign language. |
|
Advanced Learning: Bonus signs are included for advanced signers. There are over 200 illustrated American Sign Language sign. Children love music and and they love activities which use their bodies. Pick Me Up has combined the two into a CD and activity guide your children will enjoy for several years and that will serve as a teaching tool for American Sign Language, too.
