 Ayurvedic Medicine Ayurvedic medicine is a combination of philosophy and science that is concerned with the mind and spirit as much as the body. As a total system of health care, Ayurvedic practitioners:
  • First seek to keep the individual healthy and balanced.
  • Teach that ill health is an imbalance of the three vital energies: Vata, Pitta, Kapha, known as doshas.
  • Treat each person individually. 
  • Realize what works for one person may not work for another.
  • Treat diseases with natural therapies.

A person who practices Ayurvedic Medicine will first diagnose the exact imbalance,  then prescribe some combination of diet, exercise, herbal products, and purification procedures to rebalance the patient's dosha. See also  Ayurveda and Introduction to Ayurveda.
